malia (our wounded horse) is out of danger now and is amazingly sound! she even jumped a 4′ pole to escape from her stall twice. if i had those cuts i would be on my back asking for dvd’s and martini’s.

we found her with her wound opened and with a lump of blood and goo that made me sick to my stomach. we had a grueling time trying to pen her in safely but securely and then try to clean her up. we were all a mess without accomplishing much. she is so tired of being doctored. everything we do for her seems to cause her pain; injections, scrubbing the wound, pouring antiseptic on the wound, packing and bandaging the wound. she has had no break. lauren has had no break.

we are pretty exhausted over at the rain farm. so that explains my excessive use of foul language. lately i sound like a rap song. lauren is a trooper but she is just not experienced or qualified to perform these kinds of procedures with an uncooperative and rearing horse. i feel so frustrated because she is not thinking about her own safety as much as i am. yesterday i declared marshall law on her performing any more horse injections. malia is so skittish and it is not worth the potential risk to lauren to be trying to work on such a strung out horse. let go. let god. we are doing our best.

never be responsible for something you can’t sit on to overpower!

how can you reason with a horse? i tell her, we are doing this to help your body heal, to protect you from harm…. but she is in panic mode whenever we touch her. she has been through so much. she is a hardy horse though.

lauren wrote the most beautiful mothers day card. it was the most moving writing anyone ever gave me.

we caught a mouse so small this morning (in the sink- it couldn’t climb out) that when scott threw it to our hen mrs friendly she swallowed it one one gulp.
